Tuhon Leslie Buck is the founder and CEO of the Tactical Arts Academy.

I received a call this week from a casting associate with NBC asking if we had any members interested in competing in American Ninja Warrior for the upcoming season.  My first question is: how many knives can we bring?  Actually, if it is anything like the Ninja Warrior series in Japan, it would be a lot of fun.

I am excited to announce, that in addition to new bars, med balls and bumper plates we have a new friend on the way...the Butcher.  The Butcher is a prowler from Rogue Fitness used for pushing and pulling.  It is an excellent training tool and despite the challenge it provides, it typically does not make you sore and can even be good for recovery.

Unlike moving a bar or doing a bodyweight exercise, there is no negative or eccentric movement when pushing a prowler.  Since the eccentric portion of an exercise is typically what leads to more trauma in the muscle, it usually what contributes most to soreness after exercise.  Who wants the first ride around the parking lot?

Just a quick commercial to let everyone know our new stainless steel water bottles are in stock.  I think they came out great.  I chose the stainless without any color because the colored bottles are easy to scratch and peel if they are not hand washed every time.

The bottles have the Tactical Arts Academy logo centered with a BPA free plastic screw top.  They are available at our academy and online at www.KaliGear.com here.

I have been working to get modern blades made that perfectly fit the needs we have for our systems.  Thanks to expert knifemaker, Jeff Crowner, we have our first prototype.

The blade is 5.5 inches long, which is the legal limit to lawfully carry in Texas.  It is made from a high quality carbon steel that has been heat treated to be very durable.  There is a false edge on the back to facilitate thrusting, and the tang is tapered to make it easier to hold.  The handle is long so that it can comfortably be held in a diagonal manner in the hand when using a forward grip. The design is meant to be comfortable in both forward and reverse grips, so the handle design is fairly neutral and straight.  A single finger groove prevents grip slippage, as well as index the sharp edge of the blade when using in the dark.
